Both the M177 and M179 are supplied in very impressive foam‑lined flightcases and are accompanied by a frequency response plot, a warranty card, and a brochure detailing various operational and technical aspects of the particular model. Took some time before work to do a little comparison between the CAD M179 (AWESOME) and the CAD U37. Both are great mics for the money but the M179 is certainly worth the extra cash! Hope you like It's not very often that a company under prices something but I sincerely believe that I've found a microphone worth far more than the selling price.

Cad m179 review

The M179 is great for virtually all acoustic, wind, and amplified instruments. It has been proven to be outstanding in all of these applications and more. M179 Low Toms. I guess this is just another example of how critical mic positioning can be, and that some mics are more forgiving than others. So if you have a set of e604’s that you aren’t digging, try this position out, and see if it doesn’t work much better for you.

While the M179 compared quite favourably in omni mode with an AKG 414 on vocals, in this particular application the 414 won hands down. Moving on to the M9 valve microphone then. The M9 is a kind of intermediate stage between CAD’s own VX2 valve microphone and the solid-state design of the M179. While the VX2 uses two valves, The CAD M179 is a large diaphragm condenser microphone with an infinitely variable polar pattern. That means whether you're recording drums, vocals, string instruments, or basically anything else, you'll be able to use the CAD M179.

CAD M179 has three switches. First switch is a standard -20 dB control, second serves as a high-pass filter that can help to eliminate unwanted proximity effect, and third is the pattern switch, which is the most interesting. The pattern switch is continuously variable, meaning it can assume an unlimited number of position.

This is well over twice what most other condenser mics require. The Sennheiser MKH80 and AKG C414 require only 3mA and the Neumann U87 a mere 0.8mA, for example. CAD M179- great mic. I use it pretty often. It has a nice sound, sort of lets things stand out, but also can pull out some heavy bass. Excellent mic for the money.
